Current acupuncture treatment training includes a 3-year post-graduate masters program, national board exams and individual state licensing.

Acupuncture treatments and medicines stimulates the nervous system to release cells that regulate the immune, hormonal and endocrine systems. As a result acupuncture produces profound and lasting effects on general health. Increased relaxation and stress management, increased energy, mental clarity and pain control are all very common responses to regular acupuncture treatments.

The World Health Organization recognizes acupuncture treatment's effectiveness in treating over 200 conditions, including but not limited to the following:

- Allergies

- Colds and flu

- Stress

- Pain management

- Increased healing time

- Improved sleep

- Insomnia

- Addictions

- Depression

- Anxiety

- Hypertension

- Cardiovascular disease

- PMS

- Digestive dysfunction

- Headaches

- Urinary tract disorders

- Sexual dysfunction

- Digestive problems

- Arthritis

- Other chronic and painful degenerative conditions.

- Infertility

The practice of acupuncture as a medicine involves the insertion of several extremely fine needles, about the width of a human hair, at specific points on the body to promote pain-relief, enhance healing and calm the nervous system. Insertion by a skilled acupuncturist produces very little discomfort. Occasionally there is a brief pinch that quickly fades. There may be a tingling, warmth, heaviness or numbness. Most people become extremely relaxed and may even fall asleep. A relaxed but rejuvenated feeling is induced after the acupuncture treatment which may last for several days.
